Dreamy Days

Today I finally succeeded to create a Treasury list on Etsy - Dreamy Days- and I really love how it turned out. There are so many amazing things on Etsy, some beyond imagination. And I was thinking to share with you, once a week, my favorites. We shall see about that. Untill then, enjoy your dreamy days :)

JK Rowling: The fringe benefits of failure

I received today from Andra,  a link to a speech delivered by JK Rowling in 2008 at Harvard. You have here the video and here the speech written. Listening to her you'll just laugh and cry and think...just a small quote, not the most relevant, but the first one that came into my mind:

Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathise with humans whose experiences we have never shared..

Plutarch: What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality.

It's about failure, imagination, empathy, apathy, kindness, power and life. Enjoy!

Fashion Bloggers

Have I ever told you about my favorite fashion bloggers? I will start with my last discovery: a 13 year old amazing girl that started her blog when she was 11!!! Now she's invited at fashion shows and it seems she has a word to say about fashion industry. Meet Tavi :)
My first discovery in this field was Jane, from Sea of Shoes, whom style I absolutely adore! Then I bumped into Susie aka Style Bubble and Jennine aka The Coveted, that without mistake can be called style icons.
Speaking about fashion, check out this new online fashion magazine: PLM that features lovely cloths from Corina Vladescu, Andreea Badala and Multe Mandarine and also a great article about Maison Martin Margiela written by Daiana. The smart man behind it is fashion designer George Enache.

Have a nice Sunday!

LATER UPDATE: Most influential style blogs
Just discovered a dreamer. Love the header.

About mediocrity

What about it? When is actually a person mediocre? When he is not tall, nor short, not fat, nor thin, not smart, yet not stupid? Maybe when he's not delicate, yet not strong, when he doesn't have the highest grades nor the smallest, when he's not creative yet not dull, when he's not ugly but you can't call him beautiful. Therefore a person is mediocre when he's not excellent nor completely dumb. Still, sometimes mediocre seems to me that it has a worst connotation than the sense of stupid. So, it seems better to be stupid by excellence than mediocre, ordinary, average.
Why is that when a person realizes that he doesn't have the greatest job, nor the perfect love story, nor the highest intellectual competences, nor a perfect body all the world collapses? What is the purpose of life when one cannot be the best in something, or at least for someone? How many persons are really excellent? What if one NEEDS to be excellent in one single field, whether is mopping the floor or quantic physics.
Maybe things are just the way Camil Petrescu (Romanian writer) put it: Câtă luciditate, atâta existenţă şi deci atâta dramă. One's lucidity is one's existence, therefore one's tragedy . That is, all of it hurts when you have a conscience, when you are rational, when you try to understand life, feelings, mind, people and mediocrity.
It may be utter pseudo-philosophic clumsiness what I've written above, but...I was just wandering: what about this mediocrity?

Time management

This is an issue that eats my life and my brains lately. I really cannot focus on one single and important thing, I keep flying from here to there, doing nothing, hating myself for not respecting deadlines.
I recently found this interesting helpful(?) article, that I didn't read yet (yeah, I don't have time to read an article supposed to make me win time). Maybe it will help some of you that deal with my problem, but that have a consciences of their own, unlike me.Hope you´l enjoy it!

PS: Can´t wait for the 8th of February to come, so I can work again on lovely jewelry. Have a nice week!

Great people, great designs

I am playing a new funny game: it's called I-would-do-anything-but-study-for-my-exams. And today I won  aprize!!!  I discovered Lollyrot and Meda. Do check them out, I was mesmerized :)

New finds

From time to time I update my blogroll with cool stuff I discover wandering from blog to blog, from tweet to tweet. For example now I've added the best street style blog there is in Romania: Street as Catwalk. I love every single outfit and photo composition on that site, it's really cool. Then I found out that a new one is coming to town: Rue Mauvert, really promising also, love their header :)Though, I wonder what happened to Urban Style, loved that one too.

On the other hand, for all the crafters out there check how cool this site is!

Recycle Ur Cosmo

Madalina from Artizat came up with this great idea: Recycle Ur Cosmo, that is: you come Friday with your glossy magazines and the super-creative girls there will turn them in bags, decorations and jewelry. If you are not convinced yet, then what about receiving a brooch for every 5 magazines?

Brag about how eco and fashion wise you are :) And don't forget: take care of the world and you will be taken care of!

hip hip hooray for my snail brooch

Yes, indeed, this is the second time for my fancy snail brooch to appear in an Etsy treasury list (first time) , this time thanks to Kiesha Jean who creates some amazing wall prints. My favorites are this one and this one. Which ones do you like?

Words...don't come easy

I've noticed that I'm a mess when it comes to words. Although I've studied words during faculty and I'm struggling to do it right now with my master degree program, I spend hours answering to a trivial email or writing a post here, on the blog; and it hurts like hell writing a description of my items in online stores; and when it comes to school homework I'm just a silly kid trying to do anything but writing essays and projects. For example I started writing this post 43 minutes ago. What about you? Do words come easy? If they do, in what language do you express better? If you find it difficult to answer, listen this first.
